Disability Sport Wales relies heavily on the support and enthusiasm of all of our coaches and volunteers.  Getting involved in volunteering couldn't be easier and we can guarentee that it will be one of the most rewarding, challenging and exciting things you have ever done!!!

Disability Sport Wales seeks to provide all volunteers with the support, training and guidance required. Regardless of your experience we can guarentee that there is just the right role for you - BE INSPIRED to volunteer!!

Information

Disability Sport Wales needs as many quality volunteers as possible! Whether you would like to help out in a club, become a sports administrator, drive a vehicle or to ‘buddy’ up with a disabled sportsperson who needs some support, there is a role for you.  Without volunteers, sport simply would not happen! Your Disability Sport Wales Development Officer can help you get started and provide ongoing training and support.

Volunteering Counts!

·         Volunteering Counts is a National Initiative led by Disability Sport Wales

·         The scheme aims to provide quality opportunities you, to help support the Disability Sport Wales scheme in a voluntary capacity, as well as supporting you in your role through training, coach education, mentoring and support.

·         Volunteering Counts recognizes the importance and value of the volunteer to the success of the Disability Sport Wales scheme, and seeks to help you to identify the role that’s right for you in an environment that suits your needs.

How did you first get involved in Disability Sport? 

I became a mini-bus driver for disabled people and it all started from there.

Where do you volunteer for Disability Sport? 

Glaslyn Leisure Centre Porthmadog, every Thursday 11.00am-12.00pm excluding holidays.

What are your roles & responsibilities? 

My roles include registering participants, leading the sessions and helping individuals develop their skill.

What do you enjoy most about volunteering in Disability Sport?

I’ve always liked working with disabled people and Disability Sport means that I’m able to contribute to their leisure and well-being, our members are really competitive so there is never a dull moment.

In what ways has Disability Sport helped you to develop?

I get to understand the participants and become aware of their limitations, I would like to think that I am then able to help them develop.

What are your future aspirations with Disability Sport or volunteering in sport? 

To upgrade my coaching qualifications, help the club gain new members.
