IWAS Junior Athletics World Championships, Olomouc, Czech Republic

6 Welsh Athletes within a squad of 18 in the Great Britain Team

Daniel Lucker (Abergavenny) 5 Gold (100m, 200m, 400m, 1500m & 5000m) 1 Silver (800m)

Nathan Stephens (Bridgend) 2 Gold (Javelin & Discus)

Aled-Sion Davies (Bridgend) 2 Gold (Shot & Discus)

Owain Taylor (Cwmbran) 2 Gold (Javelin & Discus)

Also Cardiff based athlete, Vicky Silk, won 1 Gold, 1 Silver & 1 Bronze.

GB came away with 21 Gold, 12 Silver and 9 Bronze (Total 42 medals)

Therefore 52% of the Gold Medals were won by Welsh Athletes, 28.5% of all medals won by GB were by Welsh Athletes.

Subject to ratification there were 1 World Junior Record set by Aled-Sion Davies, 5 European, 9 British Records, and 10 new personal best posted.

Rachel Morris (originally from Pembroke) has returned from the World Championships as a Double Gold Medal winner in the Hand-Cycling events.

Nyree Lewis Gold 100m Back, Bronze Relay

Also Swansea based Eleanor Simmonds wins 4 Gold Medals

 

2 Year Countdown to London 2012 Paralympic Games

The GB Boccia squad invited London Mayor, Boris Johnson to Trafalgar Square for a game of Boccia to mark the 2 year countdown to the London Games. Part of the GB squad was our very own Karl Parrish (Chepstow)
