BULLSEYE AWARD FOR TARGET CLUB

The Three Counties Air Target Club has become the first club in Wales to attain the Clubmark status through the Disability Sport Wales Community Scheme.
The club who have their headquarters and range at Nantyci Showground have 60 members and are the unsung heroes of Carmarthenshire’s sporting scene with disabled and able bodied shooters from ten to 73-years.
The club have achieved phenomenal successes with young members travelling the wo
rld for competition.
Eighteen-year-old Daniel Jones, of Llanllwni is currently competing in Gibralta and has already achieved the qualifying score for the junior Commonwealth Games of 2010.
Another youngster, Daniel Worrel, has just returned from Bulgaria having achieved a bronze medal in the World Championships.
Trimsaran’s Rachelle Gravelle, as well as being the current Carmarthenshire junior sports personality of the year, has become the Welsh, English and Scottish targets champion.
Paraplegic Eirian Griffiths, of Carmarthen, has won a shower of medals using specially constructed and adapted equipment which he triggers with his feet.
Tetraplegic Vic Morris from Felinfach, Llandeilo, similarly using equipment adapted by club chairman John Kelman.
Carmarthenshire county council executive board member for leisure services, Cllr Clive Scourfield, said: "The target club deserve the Clubmark status for all the unsung work they do for members drawn from three counties.
"They have an exceptional record of achievement with membership making their mark in competitions all over the world."
He praised the exceptional work of Disability Sport Wales development officer Lisa Pudner working on the council staff and her relationship with the target club.
The Clubmark is a mark of quality for sports clubs and groups that is signed off by the Federation of Sports Disability Wales.
It offers protection of members and club officials and offering an incentive to improve the quality of existing clubs and groups specific to the needs of disability sports clubs and groups.
Michelle Daltry, Disability Sport Wales national development manager presented an award and certificate to the club saying: "It is fitting this is the first club in Wales to win this award for the Trojan unsung work performed by officials and members integrating and helping those with disabilities."
