No Limits as Group to Climb Heights of Everest to Raise Money for Equipment
24 Nov 2006
Members and supporters of The No Limits Outdoor Pursuit Club, Conwy’s ground breaking Outdoor Pursuit Club for people with Disabilities hope to have raised over £700 following a fund raising event held at Llandudno Junction Leisure Centre last Saturday.
They set out to climb the height of Everest, over 29,000ft, by continuously, in relay, climbing the indoor climbing wall at Llandudno Junction Leisure Centre. They achieved their target in a little over six and a half hours with over a dozen climbers helping along the way.
The club will use the funds to purchase items such as helmets and special harness’s for members with higher levels of disability and also to hire the specialist facilities and instructors needed to hold events.
Conwy’s Disability Sport Wales Development Officer Ian Martin said
"The event was very special to be involved in. It was a big undertaking and on behalf of the club I’d like to say a big thank you both to the centre staff and the volunteers that gave their time to help with the climb."
