Pembrokeshire Puffins

The Pembrokeshire Puffins are a pan disability swimming club. It's purpose is to give people of all ages who have a disability the opportunity to train, compete, progress & win at their own level. The club is run entirely by volunteers who freely give their time. By highlighting abilities rather than disabilities the successes of our athletes help increase self confidence not just in training & competition but in their daily lives too. Every swimmer participates to his or her fullest potential whilst upholding the spirit of sportsmanship. New friendships are often formed. There are now over 30 swimmers from all over Pembrokeshire who come along with their families.

Presentation evening 2/2/08

The trophies for this were kindly sponsored by the Milford Haven Port Authority.

This was the second annual presentation night. Trophies were presented to all members who have regularly trained over the last year. All the swimmers who have been to galas this year have made at least one personal best time which shows their determination and dedication in over coming their disabilities.

This year The Pembrokeshire Charity Bike Ride in Haverfordwest made a fantastic contribution of £4530. It was nice that some of the  volunteers & swimmers were able to get involved & take part in the bike ride from Haverfordwest to Pembroke Dock.

Trophies

When the bike riders heard of the gala they had a trophy made and the judges of the day were asked for a swimmer that they felt put in the most effort. Phillip Hughes & Nigel Flower from the Charity bikers came along to the presentation evening & presented this trophy to the chosen swimmer Abigail Walsh who is 15 from Pembroke Dock.
