This club has both disabled and non-disabled participants and is suitable for anyone aged 5 to 50 years. The sessions are ideal for stimulating both sensory, learning, or physical disabilities and all are welcome to attend.
Training takes place on Mondays from 6.00pm - 7:30pm juniors, 7:30- 9.00pm Seniors and one Saturday a month. Please call before attending to make sure the session is running.
Phill Selway is the head coach and has devoted himself for the last eight years to teaching the sport to young people and those with disabilities. He is ably supported by his wife and daughter.
The title of his course is "Integrated Judo" and he has been appointed to teach the art to partially sighted and blind pupils. Players in Wales who have a disability, wear the standard belts but with the addition of a red line through the centre so that clubs and officials can tell if a player has a disability.
Phillip travels extensively in his role of teaching judo - both in the UK and overseas.
Phillip has coached people to the Special Olympic Games and is competent in coaching people with varying disabilities, both his and the clubs moment of glory was assisting Sarah Gratton to a silver medal in Bejing, Speical Olympics.
