Cwmbran Harriers

Cwmbran Harriers is a voluntary organisation and is managed by a group of members who comprise the Management Board and Committee under a Club constitution.

Cwmbran Harriers are an affiliated member of Welsh Athletics - and in turn to UK Athletics, so is governed by their rules. Our main aim is to support and foster the Welsh/UK Athletics multi-event format that comprises Track & Field, Cross-Country Athletics and other associated specialist competitive athletics activities. Competitively we are one of Wales’ very best Junior Clubs - and aim to get even better.

Age Groups

The competitive age groups for both male and female are as follows:-

Under 13 years, Under 17 years, Seniors

Under 15 years, Under 20 years, Veterans

Juniors / Novices aged between 9 and 11 years can compete in some leagues.

Age Groups

Ages are calculated on 1st September in the year of competition & runs from the beginning of the track & field season. The competition age for U20 athletes however is calculated on 1st January in the year of competition and basically aligns with IAAF rules. Schools age groupings are slightly different, using school ‘years’ for their competitions. Schools events are affiliated to, but are effectively operated separately to Welsh Athletics. Athletes who show good Athletic ability in School events are encouraged to join and compete with their nearest Welsh Athletics affiliated Club.

Competitions

Cwmbran Harrier Teams participate in a number of competitions throughout the year and additionally encourages individual participation in Regional and National Championships. In summer we compete in various League Track and Field competitions and in winter in Cross Country events. Road running and other specialist events are available throughout the year and there is a short indoor season annually during wintertime.
