Neath and Port Talbot

Welcome to Neath and Port Talbot's page on the Disability Sport Wales Website.

My name is Victoria Radmore, Disability Sport Wales Development Officer for Monmouthshire. I am based at Physical Activity & Sport Service, Library Resource Centre.

Within Neath and Port Talbot there are currently existing clubs and provisions offering a variety of sporting activities for disabled people, ranging from Football to Archery.

If you are a coach or volunteer there is also the UK Disability Inclusion Training Course (UK DIT) which is currently available in Wales, courses run several times over the year so please contact me for upcoming dates.

In order to help support clubs deliver good quality sessions Disability Sport Wales have introduced insport. insport is a four tiered (Ribbon, Bronze, Silver and Gold) identification and accreditation process which any sports club can go through to show they are committed to providing and delivering inclusive sport. If you are a mainstream club providing inclusive sport already or would like to please contact me. Look out for the insport logo that highlights some of the most inclusive sports clubs across Wales.

I update the website on a weekly basis with news, events and up and coming courses to please check regularly!

Welsh Wonders Strike Gold

Welsh Wonders struck gold at the British Wheelchair Sports Foundation National Junior Games.

The Port Talbot based athletes stole the show and came away with 125 medals, 60 of which were gold.

They were also awarded the Athletics Team Spirit Trophy for the fifth consecutive year.

The children, aged between 11 and 18-years-old, all have a physical or sensory disability.

Disability Sport Wales Development Officer Victoria Radmore said "this year’s event proved to be an exceptional tournament, although the competition was fierce the team excelled beyond all expectations,"

Since forming in 2002 the club has grown and grown and now has 39 members, nine volunteer coaches and one fund-raiser.

"The children take part in a various sports, from wheelchair basketball and athletics to kurling and boccia.

Welsh Wonders should be very proud to be part of Neath Port Talbot.
