Merthyr Tydfil
Welcome to the Merthyr page for Disability Sport, my name is Simon Jones and I am the Sport Development Officer in this area. I am based in Rhydycar Leisure Centre in Merthyr as part of the Sports Development Team.
I have been in this post since 2007 and have been involved in Disability Sport for over 4 years as a volunteer, coach and committee member for different clubs.
I have been involved with Wheelchair Basketball, Visually impaired football and football for children with learning difficulties and a range of other sports.
In Merthyr we currently have a Football club for children with learning difficulties, there is also a social club for people with all disabilities every Thursday from 6.30pm-8.30pm where people can participate in Boccia and New Age Kurling.
There are a number of clubs in Merthyr now and also local clubs that promote inclusion, for more information on these please get in contact with myself
If you want any further information about clubs, participating or becoming a coach/volunteer I will be happy to help.
I look forward to hearing from you
Simon
